Panasonic Adds New Over-The-Range Microwaves, New Countertop Model To Lineup Of Acclaimed Microwave Oven Technology
Panasonic today announced the expansion of its acclaimed line of microwaves to include two over-the-range models and one countertop model. These microwaves, along with many other Panasonic Home Appliance products, will be demonstrated at Panasonic’s booth #L12502 at the 2009 International Home + Housewares Show being held in Chicago, Illinois, from March 22-24th, 2009.

Panasonic NN-SD277SR
The NN-SD297SR and the NN-SD277SR represent the flagship stainless steel models in the newly-reintroduced over-the-range line of Genius Prestige Inverter® microwave ovens. These microwaves have a fingerprint-resistant front, large, 2.0 cubic foot interior capacity, elegant blue/green backlit dial operation and half mirror glass door. The NN-SD297SR also include a bright halogen light and movable louvers that open when needed for ventilation purposes when the oven is in use, yet automatically close when the cooking task is complete, for a more streamlined appearance.
Panasonic’s NN-SD688S is a new Prestige countertop model that is also equipped with Inverter technology, Genius Sensor and powerful 1300 Watt operation.
The over-the-range microwaves come with robust technology to support their stylish designs. They come with high power output of 1100 Watts and a super powerful fan (up to 420 CFMs of air moved) for efficient ventilation of the kitchen area. The easy-to-use operating panel includes sensor reheat and popcorn buttons, as well as Sensor Cook with instant access buttons in 15 categories to make cooking of common dishes easy and intuitive. The microwaves also include the Inverter turbo defrost technology for even heating of dishes with no overcooked edges.
Panasonic’s NN-SD688S is a new Prestige countertop model that is also equipped with Inverter technology, Genius Sensor and powerful 1300 Watt operation. This is an enhanced line extension of the Prestige collection.
Unlike other microwave ovens, Panasonic’s Inverter technology provides an always-on, constant energy flow – then variably adjusts the intensity for each meal selection. Other ovens try to create lower energy levels by using the same maximum power all the time, but repeatedly turning it on and off. Panasonic’s consistent and precise heat means users can cook, reheat or defrost foods without overcooking edges.
“Our new over-the-range and countertop microwaves give consumers more choice when it comes to their quick cooking options,” said Bill Soderberg, National Marketing Manager, Home Appliances, Panasonic. “All incorporate our Inverter technology for more even cooking. And, our microwaves’ sleek good looks complement any kitchen design.”
The NN-SD277SR is also available in white and black, as model numbers NN-SD277WR and NN-SD277BR, respectively. The NN-SD688S is available with an optional trim kit for cabinet-mounted installations.
The NN-SD297SR is available in September 2009 with an MSRP of $479.95, while the NN-SD277SR is available in September 2009 with an MSRP of $429.95. The NN-SD688S is available in April 2009 with an MSRP of $179.95.
